Parents will now have a before school care option as Horsham Aquatic Centre has piloted the ‘Active Kids Tribe’ program for children aged 10-12, and is now looking to offer the program to the wider community.

Active Kids Tribe inspires physical activity by presenting a range of activities for participants to try. Program Coordinator, Susan Kirkwood has been thrilled to facilitate this program.

“The program is a great opportunity for the community and our busy parents. There has been different activities offered each week, which the children have really taken to. We’ve had Fitness testing, TRX suspension training, RPM (bike workout) and even kids boxing” she said.

Participants are simply dropped off by parents at 7.30am and partake in a different activity each week. A healthy breakfast is also provided by the café and children get ready and are dropped off to their school with a provided bus service.

“Feedback has been really positive, I get a lot of two thumbs up when I ask the kids if they are enjoying the program. They have also been saying it is fun and they enjoy coming each morning. Some parents have commented that the kids seem to feel better throughout the day and the program has been excellent in creating healthy morning habits. This feedback has helped us move forward in our planning and we are really excited to offer this program to the Horsham Community” Susan said.

After great success, the program is set to run again in term 4. Anyone interested can speak to a friendly staff member in centre or register their interest HERE
